“I
have known Sue Lawton for more than 20 years as a strong volunteer in
Wards 3 and 4, both for the community and for the Peel District School
Board.
Sue Lawton has the time, energy and commitment to represent us full time.
Sue will be a strong, knowledgeable advocate for our students - Our most valuable Asset.
Student success and community needs will be in good hands with Sue Lawton.”
Ruth Thompson, Vice Chair, Trustee
Ward 3 & 4, Peel District School Board

I have been preparing for THIS JOB since my children began kindergarten.
I have volunteered in classrooms, gone on field trips, collected canned goods for the food bank, helped start breakfast clubs, baked cupcakes, sold hot dogs, pizza, magazine subscriptions chocolate almonds and toothbrushes;
I have helped with concerts and plays, raised funds for a new playground, expanded a parking lot, organized fun fairs, book fairs & car washes;
I have coached teams, run the Community School at Glenhaven, and raised funds to build their Outdoor Classroom, planted flowers, sold flowers, planted trees, hung ribbons on trees in support of our teachers, organized Information Nights on Safe Schools, Newcomer Issues, Support for Arts Programs, How to Access Scholarships, and even relocated a basketball court!
I have participated in and headed parents associations, school councils, Peel Board committees, Safe Schools Conferences, and Ministry events.
I have given presentations, I have lobbied, and I have attended meetings – meetings with students, parents, teachers, and other parent groups;
meetings with Principals, Vice Principals, and Superintendents, and Ministers of Education.
And for all these 20 years, I have had the extraordinary benefit of volunteering closely with our past Trustee, Ruth Thompson, whose common sense approach and philosophy I shall continue:
YOUR JOB AS A PARENT IS TO ADVOCATE FOR YOUR CHILD
MY JOB AS YOUR TRUSTEE IS TO ADVOCATE FOR ALL OUR CHILDREN
